About us
Friends of Portage Bay and Fayette Historic State Park is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping maintain Portage Bay Campground and Fayette State Park.

The volunteer board of directors collaborates with the DNR and manages donations and activities to help with improvements and provide educational opportunities for visitors.

Portage Bay Campground
Located on the shores of Lake Michigan on the Garden Peninsula, the campground has 23 campsites, a boat launch, a sandy beach, and hiking trails that provide access to various habitats and wildflowers. The Portage Bay Campground trails are highlighted in Michigan Wildflowers by Harry Lund.

Fayette Historic State Park
Consisting of 711 acres and Snail Shell Harbor surrounding the historic Fayette townsite, the park includes 61 campsites, a boat launch, harbor slips, and miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails.
